The Board of Control for cricket in India was awaiting a formal communication from the Centre about the go-ahead given to the Indian cricket team's tour to Pakistan next month.

"I'm waiting to get it officially from the government," said BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya when his reaction was sought on the issue.

"I'll react only after I receive the formal communication," Dalmiya, who is scheduled to leave for London this evening for an important meeting of the International Cricket Council, said.

The uncertainty about the trip blew away earlier in the day, with the government giving the all-clear signal after a meeting convened by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at his residence.

External Affairs minister Yashwant Sinha also said that it was now for the Board of Control for Cricket in India to fix the schedule in consultation with its counterpart in Pakistan.

Though Dalmiya refrained from saying anything at this stage but a source in the Board said that the BCCI never had any doubt about the series being held as it had not received any formal communication from the government earlier on postponement or rescheduling of the tour.

Asked when the date of departure of the team and the itinerary of the tour would be announced, the sources said "Everything will be finalised based on the report of the three member security team now in Pakistan to oversee the arrangements".

The three-member team headed by BCCI Joint Secretary Ratnakar Shetty is expected to return on Tuesday or Wednesday, the BCCI source said.

The team also includes a top security officer from the Union Home Ministry.
